TAMARAC ANNOUNCES CITYWIDE WATER METER UPGRADE TO ENHANCE SERVICE AND MODERNIZE INFRASTRUCTURE
The City of Tamarac Water Meter Upgrade Initiative is Underway The City of Tamarac has launched a citywide water meter upgrade initiative to replace all existing water meters with advanced smart technology. This project, which began on April 28, 2025, will continue through the end of the year.
The new smart meters provide more reliable service and accurate water usage measurements. They enable on-demand readings for transparent, consistent billing and give customers the ability to track daily water usage through online portals or apps. These self-service tools also allow users to monitor their accounts, receive real-time alerts about potential leaks, and take proactive steps to reduce waste and lower costs.
In addition to improved customer service and operational efficiency, the smart meter technology supports water conservation by identifying ways to reduce consumption and protect our shared water resources.
Residents can now access an interactive map to track ongoing water meter upgrades across the City. To check the status of your meter, simply enter your address in the 'Find Address or Place' field on the map. Click here Version Options Water Meter Upgrades Headline to get started.
Installation Details:
- π Schedule: HST Utility will be conducting the installations on behalf of the city from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, beginning April 28.
- π΅ No Cost: The upgrade is provided at NO CHARGE to homeowners or businesses.
- π No Need to Be Home: In most cases, installations can be completed without residents being present, as meters are typically located in accessible outdoor areas.
- π Access Requested: Please ensure the area around your water meter is clear of any obstructions before your scheduled installation.
- π Notifications: Door hangers will be placed on your door to notify you of the scheduled service and any additional details.
- β‘ Quick Process: Each installation typically takes 20–30 minutes, during which your water will be temporarily shut off.
- π§ No Plumbing Changes Needed: Most properties will not require plumbing modifications. However, it is the property owner’s responsibility to ensure existing valves and plumbing are in working condition and to address any issues discovered.
- π’ Commercial Properties: The City will coordinate directly with businesses to schedule installations at times that minimize service disruption.
MANDATORY PARTICIPATION
All Tamarac water service customers must participate in the water meter upgrade.
HST TECHNICIANS
Technicians will wear HST-branded shirts and drive marked vehicles for easy identification.
Meter Installation Timeline:
