Noise Ordinance Guidelines - Tamarac

Dear Tamarac Residents,

As the holiday season approaches, we recognize that celebrations and gatherings are an important part of this festive time. To ensure everyone can enjoy the season while maintaining a peaceful community environment, we’d like to remind residents of the city’s noise regulations and expectations for respectful celebrations.

Noise Ordinance Highlights:

Tamarac Code of Ordinances, Sec. 9-86: Generally

    • Noise means any sound that is plainly audible from a distance of fifteen (15) feet, or from the property of another.
    • Any loud or raucous noise, or
    • Any noise that is plainly audible and disturbs, injures, or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace, or safety of reasonable persons of ordinary sensitivity within the jurisdictional limits of the city, or
    • Any noise that is plainly audible, harsh, prolonged, unnatural, or unusual in time or place, causing discomfort to any persons within the neighborhood, interfering with the peace and comfort of neighbors or their guests, or detrimentally affecting residences or places of business.

Holiday Adjustments:

While the holidays may bring increased activity, the noise ordinance remains in effect to support the comfort and well-being of all residents.

Tips for Considerate Celebrations:

  • Keep music and gatherings at a reasonable volume, particularly during late-night hours.
  • Inform neighbors in advance if you are hosting a gathering and collaborate to address any concerns.
  • Use soundproofing measures or indoor spaces to minimize noise impacts on the community.

We appreciate your cooperation in fostering mutual respect among neighbors and maintaining a peaceful environment for all. Let’s work together to make this holiday season enjoyable for everyone in our Tamarac community!
