ART PREVAILS PROJECT FOUNDER AND ARTISTIC DIRECTOR DARIUS V. DAUGHTRY TO HOST MLK DAY CELEBRATION

Tamarac, Fla. (Jan.13, 2026)The City of Tamarac is proud to partner with local musicians, poets and entertainers to present Rhythm of a Dream: An MLK Performing Arts Celebration, hosted by Art Prevails Project Founder and Artistic Director Darius V. Daughtry. The production will take place on Friday, January 16, at the Tamarac Community Center, located at 8601 W. Commercial Blvd., with pre-show experiences beginning at 6 p.m. The evening pays tribute to the life, legacy and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through an artistic lens. The program is free and open to the public. 

Highlights of the celebration include dance performances by Simone’s Just Dance Performing Arts, instrumental interludes by South Florida-based musician Doug McDonald on Sax and vocal features by Voices of Rain. The on-stage ensemble also features The Men of Impact Step Team, the official male step squad from Piper High School.



Adding a reflective and interactive element to the program, the audience will experience a captivating spoken word piece by local orator and educator Darius V. Daughty. 


In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, City of Tamarac offices will be closed.
