History


Gary B. Jones Park for People and Pups is a beloved community park with a rich history. Named after Gary B. Jones, the City's late Director of the Building Department and Chief Building Official, this outdoor dog park is open year-round and includes shelters, covered benches, a dog wash area, drinking fountains, a walking path, landscaping, and a parking area.

Over the years, it has undergone several expansions to accommodate the community's growing needs. The large dog area is officially named “Tam-A-Bark Run” and is designated for dogs weighing 25 pounds or more. The small dog area, known as “Wiggley Field,”  is designated for dogs weighing 24 pounds or less. The City of Tamarac Parks & Recreation Department hosts several annual special events, strengthening the bond between pets and their owners.

From the East:

  1. If you are coming from the East, take West Commercial Boulevard heading west.
  2. Continue on West Commercial Boulevard until you reach the intersection with Pine Island Road.
  3. Turn left onto Pine Island Road heading south.
  4. Continue on Pine Island Road until you reach Northwest 74th Street.
  5. Turn right onto Northwest 74th Street.
  6. Gary B Jones Park will be on your left.

From the West:

  1. If you are coming from the West, take West Commercial Boulevard heading east.
  2. Continue on West Commercial Boulevard until you reach the intersection with Pine Island Road.
  3. Turn right onto Pine Island Road heading south.
  4. Continue on Pine Island Road until you reach Northwest 74th Street.
  5. Turn right onto Northwest 74th Street.
  6. Gary B Jones Park will be on your left.

From the North:

  1. If you are coming from the North, take Florida's Turnpike or Interstate 95 heading south.
  2. Exit onto West Commercial Boulevard heading west.
  3. Continue on West Commercial Boulevard until you reach the intersection with Pine Island Road.
  4. Turn left onto Pine Island Road heading south.
  5. Continue on Pine Island Road until you reach Northwest 74th Street.
  6. Turn right onto Northwest 74th Street.
  7. Gary B Jones Park will be on your left.

From the South:

  1. If you are coming from the South, take Florida's Turnpike or Interstate 95 heading north.
  2. Exit onto West Commercial Boulevard heading west.
  3. Continue on West Commercial Boulevard until you reach the intersection with Pine Island Road.
  4. Turn left onto Pine Island Road heading south.
  5. Continue on Pine Island Road until you reach Northwest 74th Street.
  6. Turn right onto Northwest 74th Street.
  7. Gary B Jones Park will be on your left.
