TAMARAC, Fla. (June 11, 2024) – The City of Tamarac invites the community for a lively outdoor festival under the stars on Saturday, June 15, at 7 p.m., for the annual Juneteenth Celebration.
This year’s festival at Tamarac Sports Complex, 9901 NW 77th St., includes a variety of cultural and musical entertainment. Ashanti Cultural Performing Arts will take the stage with a welcome dance, and "Nana Kete" of Kings Point's African Cultural and Social Club will perform. Guests can also indulge in delicious bites from on-site food vendors while poet Rebecca "Butterfly" Vaughns delivers a melodic spoken word piece.
Children in attendance will enjoy an exciting stilt-walker performance by Junkanoo Band. Kids’ activities also include inflatables and a gaming truck. The evening will conclude with old-school tunes by the Old Skool Gang, a Motown-inspired four-person performance group.
The event is free and open to the public. Guests are welcome to bring a blanket or lawn chair to enhance their outdoor experience.
In observance of Juneteenth on Wednesday, June 19, City of Tamarac offices will be closed.
