TAMARAC, Fla. (Oct. 31, 2024) – The City of Tamarac will honor veterans for their sacrifices, dedication and patriotism at the annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, November 11, at 10:30 a.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Park, 7825 Southgate Blvd.
The ceremony will include a presentation of colors by the Tamarac Fire Rescue Honor Guard. Chantal Deshaies will perform the national anthem, followed by brief remarks from dignitaries. Additionally, Lieutenant Commander Adonica M. Johnson will give a keynote address.
Lt. Cmdr. Johnson enlisted in the United States Navy in 1996. Following recruit training in Great Lakes, IL, she attended Intelligence Specialist school in Dam Neck, VA. Johnson reported to her first command aboard the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), where she deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2001.
Her additional sea-duty assignments include service aboard the USS Ronald Regan, USS Boxer, the USS Makin Island and USS Abraham Lincoln. Lt. Cmdr. Johnson currently serves at United States Southern Command in Doral, in the office of Intelligence Plans and Strategy.
Following the ceremony, Tamarac’s elected officials and staff will unveil the latest installment of the Veterans Honor Wall, highlighting 100 hometown heroes.
The Tamarac Veterans Affairs Committee will be onsite to collect donations of non-perishable food, toiletry items, socks and hand towels to support the needs of homeless Veterans.
