Vacation Rental Registration
Under Chapter 12 – Vacation Rentals of the Tamarac Code of Ordinances, every vacation rental is required to obtain a City of Tamarac Vacation Rental Registration before the property is offered or operated as a vacation rental.
All correspondence relating to vacation rentals occurs via email at VacationRental@Tamarac.gov. This includes, but is not limited to, new applications, renewals, ordinance updates, and general questions. Vacation rental violation concerns may be submitted to CodeCompliance@Tamarac.gov or through SeeClickFix.
📋 REGISTRATION PROCESS
Step 1: Apply for all State and County Licenses
Applicants must first obtain all required State and County licenses, in the following order:
- A) Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR)
- ✅ Required for all transient public lodging establishments.
If the property is homesteaded, owner-occupied, and only a single room is rented, the owner may be exempt. A notarized attestation letter is required for exemption.
- B) Florida Department of Revenue (DOR)
If a hosting platform collects and remits State sales tax on your behalf, submit the required Tax Statement or a notarized letter naming the platform and confirming State sales tax remittance.
- C) Broward County Business Tax Receipt (BTR)

If a hosting platform collects and remits this tax, submit the required Tax Statement or a notarized letter naming the platform and confirming Tourist Development Tax remittance.
Step 2: Provide Proof of Property Ownership
- ✅ Submit the property record from the Broward County Property Appraiser – Records Search
Note: If the applicant is not the owner, a notarized Authorization of Agent from the property owner or managing member must be included, listing the property address and permitting the applicant to act on the owner's behalf.
Step 2b: Business Entities
- ✅ If owned by a corporation or LLC, provide ownership information from Sunbiz.org .
- ✅ Out-of-state entities must be registered with the Florida Division of Corporations .
Step 3: Provide Required Rental Documents
- ✔ A blank or sample lease agreement provided to guests. Ensure all required components listed in Chapter 12, Tamarac Code are included.
- ✔ A sketch or photograph of off-street parking spaces, with the following statement prominently included: "No on-street parking permitted"
Step 4: Complete the City of Tamarac Vacational Rental Application
- ✅ Applications will be submitted through the Tamarac online permitting portal, OpenGov.
- ✅ Once accepted, processing time is approximately five (5) business days.
Note: Incomplete applications will be rejected. You will be notified via email of missing documents and must resubmit within ten (10) business days.
🏦 Payment Process
- 1️⃣ Once the application is reviewed, the applicant will receive an email containing the Vacation Rental account number and the invoice for payment.
- 2️⃣ After the Vacation Rental Registration application is approved, the City of Tamarac Business Tax Receipt (BTR) will be generated and billed separately.
- 3️⃣ When both the Vacation Rental Registration fee and the Tamarac BTR fee have been paid, the property will be scheduled for inspection.

🔔Important Information
- ➡️ No application will remain in pending status (payment pending, inspection pending, application rejected, inspection failed) for more than 30 days once notification has been issued to the owner/responsible party.
- ➡️ Applications not completed within 30 days will be closed.
- ➡️ Accounts not renewed will be closed six (6) months after permit expiration.
