CITY OF TAMARAC MULTI-MODAL TRANSPORTATION CONNECTIVITY MASTERPLANMulti-Modal Transportation Connectivity Masterplan OverviewThe MOVE TAMARAC Multimodal Transportation Connectivity Master Plan is the City of Tamarac’s long-range blueprint for creating a safe, connected, and accessible transportation network for all users—pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and drivers. Funded through the Broward County Mobility Advancement Program, the plan reflects over a year of extensive data analysis, community engagement, and collaboration with regional partners. Launched in March 2023, the planning process included surveys, public workshops, stakeholder meetings, and site analysis to identify challenges and opportunities within Tamarac’s current transportation system. The public engagement process concluded with the presentation of draft recommendations in February 2024, and the final plan was adopted by the Tamarac City Commission in September 2024. The Plan outlines strategic infrastructure projects, policy updates, and programs aimed at enhancing safety, reducing traffic-related injuries, improving access to key destinations, and encouraging walking, biking, and transit use. A total of 25 prioritized projects were identified, including sidewalk expansions, protected bike lanes, enhanced transit connections, and intersection improvements. These initiatives are guided by core principles of equity, sustainability, and economic vitality, and align with regional plans such as Broward County’s Vision Zero and PREMO initiatives. MOVE TAMARAC positions the City to leverage state and federal funding opportunities and coordinate with neighboring municipalities to implement a vibrant, multimodal future. As implementation moves forward, the City should continue to leverage its partnerships with the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Broward County, and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), recognizing that many of Tamarac’s key corridors fall under County and State jurisdiction. Achieving the goals of MOVE TAMARAC will require a coordinated, regional approach that integrates local priorities with broader transportation investments, ensuring that improvements benefit not only Tamarac residents but also the larger South Florida community.
